Talking and communication is key
In the modern world we are all connected by underwater cables allowing us to have access to the internet, but before that time in the late 1800’s we had the transatlantic underwater cables which connected Britain to the united states allowing us to telecommunicate to one another which before the only method of doing so was by mail…

These cables did have there limits however as they did not span across the whole world meaning many countries did not have this level of over sea communication with one another as they would of liked too, over time this would slowly change as this form of technology became more rampant and its these cables which would be replaced and become the internet cables we have today
